Was great for a birthday cake I made! I painted the red in the bottom first and let it harden then cleaned the lines up before I poured two layers of Chocolate over top, make sure to let fully set before trying to unmold! You can use a gentle hot knife or Xacto knife to clean up edges!!
This was my first chocolate shoe, it was a bit more difficult than I anticipated. It took lots of patience and about seven tries before I was happy with my results. The first time I just filled them all dried up but I didn't have that nice hallow look inside. What worked for me is I tapped the Chocolate along the size of a mold to get out any air bubbles, once the sides were completely covered I let the mold set long enough for the chocolate to set up been dead about two to three more layers the same way. I love how the shoe turned out with a little bit of Luster Dust and edible glitter oh, this is going to be perfect for my Wizard of Oz cake!
This is far superior to the molds you have to cut out from sheet. It is a high quality material and does come with three clamps, although I use several more to secure the 'shoe'. The seams need very little or no trimming after unmolding. I read it should only be cleaned with hot water (no soap) and dry/buff with soft cloth. Soap can ruin the shine. Dry carefully to avoid water spots which will transfer to your shoe. My first attempt was nearly perfect. I used candy melts and other than the inside looking a little wavy, it looked great. You can hide the wavy part if you fill with candies or chocolate dipped strawberries. You Tube has some great tips on poring the chocolate for best coverage. I would say not to freeze; condensation is not good with chocolate plus if frozen it can easily crack and break; fridge method is best for setting up. Great product!! Love it!
I love it, it worked so well, it's sturdy and for someone that knows how to work with chocolate will enjoy it. I'm not use to making things with chocolate so it took me a few trys and my shoes came out good. But do be careful not to scratch the inside like I did, it can affect your chocolate sticking also do t wash with soap.
I truly was excited to get the mold and when I used it, I was impressed. I added the pearls and wine for display and to sell. I have been very excited to use this mold and will be buying another one to make it easy to make two shoes.
This is a very nice mold. It is almost as big as an 8 inch cake. I used it to mold fondant for a cake. It worked great but I did have to put a support under the heal because fondant is not as sturdy as chocolate or candy. lIt was beautiful.
